Binghamton, New York Kicks Off 7K LED Streetlights Switch

Several test LED lights were installed in the city earlier in mid- 2015. The project will cost US $4 million but the energy and maintenance savings will offset the expense in the long run. The project is expected to be completed in early 2016. Johnson Controls is managing installation of LED bulbs. The firm is completing its review and study of all municipal lighting, which includes GPS mapping of all municipal street lights, calculations and analysis to determine energy savings and LED replacement review, including new fixtures or retrofits. In addition to converting street lights, Johnson Controls is exploring LED technology for the City’s parking garages and bridges. http://www.binghamton-ny.gov/mayor-david-kicks-led-street-light-installations
